Turkey Meatballs with Apple BBQ Sauce (Slow Cooker)

  • Author: Meagan
  • Total Time: 6 Hours

Description

Another tasty slow cooker meal – I mixed up the turkey and rolled the meatballs the night before and then the morning of, tossed everything in the slow cooker and dinner was done.  I found this online at Savvy Mom – enjoy!

Ingredients

Scale

Turkey Meatballs with Apple BBQ Sauce (Slow Cooker)

1/2 c. panko crumbs combined with 1/4 c. milk

1 small onion AND 1 small apple, both peeled and finely chopped

2 cloves of garlic, minced

2 lbs. ground turkey

1/2 c. ricotta

1 T. chopped fresh sage

1 t. salt

1/2 t. freshly ground pepper

1 c. EACH your favorite apple sauce AND your favorite barbecue sauce

Instructions

Heat a bit of olive oil in a medium skillet and cook the onion, apple and garlic over medium heat for a few minutes until softened, then remove the skillet from the heat and allow it to cool a bit.

In a large bowl, combine the turkey, ricotta, sage, salt and pepper, then add in the panko and milk,  and lastly the onion mix.  Use your hands to make sure all is combined well, then shape the mixture into tablespoon-sized meatballs – I got about 40 of them.

When you’re ready to cook, place all of the meatballs into your slow cooker, whisk together the apple sauce and barbecue sauce and pour it over the meatballs.  Cook on low for 6 hours.
