Chocolate Sour Cream Frosting

This memorable frosting is direct from Deanna, and neither of us could figure out where it was originally from.  One recipe easily ices a 9 x 13 cake – enjoy!



Chocolate Sour Cream Frosting

1/2 c. sour cream, room temperature

3 T. butter, room temperature

1/3 c. cocoa

~2 1/4 c. icing sugar


Beat together the sour cream and butter until smooth, then add in the cocoa and icing sugar.  Stir carefully until the mixture is blended, then scrape down the sides and beat the frosting for a few minutes until it thickens and lightens slightly in color.  You may choose to add more icing sugar to get the consistency that you’d prefer.  Thickly frost your cooled cake and serve it up!
