Amaretto Sour

  • Author: Meagan

Description

We’ve been enjoying these for years and they’re a favorite in our family (Uncle Marco!).  Below is what we do, with the ingredients straight from Jeffrey Morgenthaler – enjoy!

Ingredients

Scale

For one cocktail;

1 1/2 oz. Amaretto

3/4 oz. bourbon

1 oz. freshly squeezed lemon juice

1 t. simple syrup (half sugar and half water by weight stirred well to be fully dissolved)

1/2 oz. egg white (1 egg white is roughly 1 oz, so make a second cocktail for a friend!)

bourbon cherries for garnish

Instructions

Combine all ingredients in a shaker without ice and shake vigorously for 20 seconds – the ingredients will react and expand slightly so keep a good grip on the shaker!

Carefully open the shaker (over a sink), add a handful of ice and shake again for another 10 to 15 seconds.

Strain over fresh ice into your favorite cocktails glass(es) and garnish with a couple of cherries.
