English Breakfast

  • Author: Meagan

Description

NOT a recipe, but a family favorite that we take the time to put together when we’re hunkered down at home and the weather is fitting.  The photo is of the ‘fast version’ – Heinz baked beans from a can, quick roasted tomatoes, mushrooms sauteed with onions in butter, Harvest sausage (sliced and baked at the same time as the tomatoes), and sunny-side-up eggs.  However, if you’re interested in taking this full-fat goodness to the next level, then below is the outline of my dream English Breakfast – enjoy!

Ingredients

Smoky Baked Beans – if I was making them only for this breakfast then I’d either leave out the bacon, or swap the bacon for chunks of ham…just because

Roasted Tomatoes – OR – Roasted Tomatoes and Cipollini Onions

Smoked Bacon

Garlic Butter Roasted Mushrooms

Thick slices of lightly toasted and buttered fresh bread – I would go with Maritime Bread or Cracked Wheat Bread

Our favorite sausage for the last long time has come from Spragg’s Meat Shop – and I would insist that it be barbecued

Eggs that are cooked as you please!

Instructions

Timing is everything, make sure everything is completely ready and waiting for you before you cook the eggs.  Assemble the plates as the eggs are being cooked/fried/poached, add the eggs and dive in.  You likely won’t need to eat for the rest of the day!
