Saturn’s Ring

Description

This is a cocktail that was ‘invented’ by Divino for Brock’s client party this fall – it was a marvelous introduction to drinking vinegar…also known in the cocktail world as a shrub.  You can buy terrific shrubs of all flavors, but why buy when you can make? (says Brock) – so a shrub recipe will be along one of these days, our current favorites are strawberry balsamic and raspberry apple cider.  This is easily one of our (new) favorite cocktails…but be careful with it…it softened up a good friend of ours so much that the girls were allowed to do his hair and make-up AND get him in a tutu to go trick-or-treating with us this year! – enjoy!

Ingredients

Scale

Saturn’s Ring – 1 cocktail

1 oz. Shrub/Drinking Vinegar (we recommend Strawberry or Raspberry)

1 oz. Elderflower Liqueur

1/2 oz. White Vermouth

1/2 oz. New Deal Ginger Liqueur

1/2 oz. freshly squeezed lemon juice

2 dashes Habanero bitters (we like Scrappy’s Firewater)

Instructions

Fill your shaker with ice, add all ingredients, shake vigorously for 10 seconds, then fine strain (we have a Japanese strainer) onto fresh ice in a Collins glass.  Top with club soda if desired.
