Big Sexy’s Air Fryer Wings

  • Author: Meagan

Description

This recipe is THE reason that I finally bought an air fryer!! Thanks to Michelle for the peer pressure and Big Sexy for sharing the easiest, most perfect wing recipe there is.  Below is for 2 pounds, but my new Ninja DoubleStack XL could absolutely handle 4 pounds – enjoy!

Ingredients

Scale

2 lbs. chicken wings, tips removed and split into drumettes and flats

2 pouches (76 g each) Shake’n Bake (Original or Extra Crispy)

avocado oil spray

lots of Frank’s Red Hot Buffalo Wing Sauce – or make your own cranked up version

**we’ve already made these several times – if you’re not into Shake’n Bake then equal parts kosher salt and coarse ground pepper makes for some amazing wings…but less is more with the seasoning of this version!**

Instructions

Pat the wings dry and then add them to a large Ziploc bag with the 2 pouches of Shake’n Bake.  Leave them to rest for about 20 minutes, shaking a couple of times as you think of it.  Follow the instructions of your air fryer for cooking times.

On mine, I sprayed the bottom of each basket, lined with wings (leaving space if cooking only 2 pounds – makes for very quick cooking), then a light spray, the rack (one in each basket), another line of wings and a last light spray.

Insert both baskets into place and select AIR FRY, set the temperature to 390 degrees and set time to 40 minutes (set to 60, just in case, if cooking 4 pounds).  Select MATCH COOK, then press ‘play’ and this beauty will automatically set both cooking zones to match.  At the 15 minute mark pull out each basket and give a shake, then decide/guess how many more minutes are needed.  If the wings are especially plump, then 30 minutes will be needed…but if the pieces are smaller then 20 to 25 minutes will likely be enough.  Use an instant thermometer and make sure the internal temperature of the larger wings has reached 165.

Dive in – these are amazing straight up, almost too easy to make and just about impossible to stop eating!
