Almond Graham Cracker Toffee Bars

  • Author: Meagan

Description

You’ve for sure eaten this (in an ‘out of control way’) at least once before in your life!  Also known as Christmas Crack when made with saltines, or Squares, or Bark or Caramel or Toffee Crunch, this is a fast and easy treat to whip up for any reason and it’s super flexible from a decoration standpoint.  Borrowed from a couple of online recipes, I chose to use a recipe with slightly less sugar but this is everything a sweet tooth needs – gooey, chewy and delicious – enjoy!

Ingredients

Scale

~30 graham crackers (every cracker is packed differently, you may need more if using saltines)

1 c. butter AND 3/4 c. brown sugar

1 c. +sliced, slivered or chopped almond

1 to 2 c. chocolate chips or baking chocolate in white, milk or dark, gently melted to drizzle – optional

sprinkles, candies, pretzels or any other nut to sprinkle on as you wish – optional

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350 and line a 10 x 15 baking sheet with foil, lightly spray the foil, then line with a tight configuration of graham crackers.

In a medium saucepan, melt/stir together and then bring to a boil the butter and brown sugar.  The moment the mix comes to a boil, simmer for 3 minutes, then immediately remove from the heat and evenly pour/spread the hot mix over your arranged crackers.  Sprinkle on all of the almonds then bake for 7 minutes.  Allow the bars to cool for a bit before adding any additional chocolate or decorations.  Cut or break up as you wish and serve – these will disappear far too quickly to worry about storing them!
