Description
Oh my goodness this is so simple but it will make you look like a rock star – I think that’s one of Tasty’s goals? If you’re not following (and you love food), you should…lots of great, quick (weird sometimes!!) ideas, but everything I’ve ever tried has worked. There are no measurements to this one…but I promise you’ll figure it out – enjoy!
Ingredients
1 (or more) sheets of puff pastry, thawed overnight in the fridge
1 (or more) thin bars of good chocolate, about 100 g – we prefer dark
1 egg, lightly beaten – to use as your egg wash
sliced almonds for decorating
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 400, have a look at the photo and lay out the pastry sheet on a parchment lined baking sheet. Place your chosen bar of chocolate in the center and slice the pastry into even diagonal strips surrounding the chocolate. You may need to discard a bit of pastry, but the goal is to evenly cover the chocolate without too much overage.
Fold the top bit down onto the chocolate and then alternate and cross over the cut pastry pieces, folding up the bit at the bottom of the chocolate as well (again, so much easier to look at the photo or watch Tasty’s video!). Brush all over with egg wash, sprinkle on the sliced almonds and bake for about 25 minutes until puffed and golden brown. A really easy treat!
