Cinnamon Doughnuts (Baked)
- Total Time: 15 Minutes
Description
Of course I bought a couple of doughnut pans! In fact, I searched them out, and then handed them to Brock so that he could wrap them and put them under the Christmas tree for me – just thinking of the family’s needs. The recipe below makes only 6 doughnuts, but it’s a perfect little activity and ‘snack’ when the girls have a friend over…we’ve made them a few times already. I found the recipe here, and she has a few more recipes that I need to try – enjoy!
Ingredients
Cinnamon Doughnuts (Baked) – makes 6 doughnuts
1 c. flour
1/4 c. + 2 T. sugar
1 t. baking powder AND 1/4 t. salt
1/8 t. EACH nutmeg AND cinnamon
1/2 c. buttermilk AND 1 egg
2 t. melted butter AND 1/2 t. vanilla
icing sugar for dusting
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 325 and butter your doughnut pan. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, nutmeg and cinnamon, and in a small bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, egg, butter and vanilla.
Add the wet to the dry and stir with a spatula until just combined and then carefully (and patiently), evenly fill your doughnut pan – I found this easiest with a teaspoon and a small spatula. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes until the doughnuts are a lovely golden brown and cooked through. Allow them to cool completely before dusting with sugar.
