Layered Crab Dip

  • Author: Meagan

Description

I definitely went old school for the appetizers this holiday season…this is from the Best Bridge (and there’s another one still to come!) – enjoy!

Ingredients

Scale

1 package (8 oz/250 g) cream cheese, softened

1 T. grated white onion (and grated really is best)

1 T. Worcestershire sauce AND 1 t. lemon juice

1/2 to 3/4 c. Heinz chili sauce

1 to 2 c. chopped crab meat – if using canned, make sure it’s DRY

parsley for garnish – fresh and dried both work

Instructions

In a medium bowl, mix the cheese, onion, Worcestershire sauce and lemon juice until well combined and the mixture is as smooth as you can get it – this can take a bit of time by hand, I’ve used my mixer before as well.  Spread this evenly on a shallow serving dish – I find a 9 or 10 inch plate is about perfect, and it’s easy to do this step the day before, just cover it with plastic wrap and refrigerate it.

Spread the chili sauce evenly across the cheese mixture, then crumble the crab thickly over top.  Sprinkle with parsley and serve with your favorite crackers or raw vegetables.
